Saint Verena of Zurich, also known as Verena of Zurzach and Verena of Thebes, was born into a wealthy Theban family in the mid-3rd century in Egypt. She was Baptized by Bishop Charemon and was known to be related to one of the soldiers of the Theban Legion.
