Saint Anastase
Feast Day
October 17
Biography
The spiritual journey of this holy man began in the maritime splendor of Venice, yet his vocation called him away from the lagoon’s embrace to the rugged isolation of the French coast. This transition from the bustling port city to a life of profound solitude marks the defining characteristic of his witness: a willingness to trade comfort for the rigors of asceticism. Before establishing himself within a monastic community, he sought the silence of the island of Rocher de Tombelaine, situated near Mont- in the bay. This rocky islet became his sanctuary, where the rhythms of prayer and labor replaced the tides of the sea.
