Biography
The Via Latina was more than a thoroughfare of the ancient world; it was a path of testimony where the footsteps of the faithful echoed against the hills of Rome. Here, beneath the surface of the earth, the early Church found its resting place, a subterranean city built of faith and silence. Among those who chose to be buried in the Cemetery of Apronian on this sacred road lies the memory of a woman known only as Eugenia. Her story is not written in the detailed chronicles of imperial courts or the hagiographical romances of later centuries, but is carved into the very stones that house the bones of the martyrs.
