Biography
The memory of this martyr is anchored in the chilling finality of water and stone, a dramatic end that echoes through the centuries from the banks of a river in the Roman province of Noricum. While many saints are remembered for their teachings or miracles, the legacy of this holy man is defined by a singular, brutal act of execution that cemented his place in the hagiographical record. Under the reign of Emperor Diocletian, a time of intense persecution for the Church, the faithful servant of God faced the wrath of the state. The historical record indicates that the governor Aquilinus, acting on imperial orders, condemned the martyr to a watery grave, casting him from a bridge into the river.
