Biography
Saint Mercurius, born around 225 AD in Eskentos, Cappadocia (Eastern Asia Minor), was a Roman soldier of Scythian descent who became a Christian saint and martyr. His parents were converts to Christianity and named him 'Philopateer' or 'Lover of the Father.' Raised in a Christian manner, Mercurius enlisted in the Roman army during the reign of Emperor Decius at the age of 17....
