Biography
Noël Patrocle, seigneur de Thoisy (or Noel Patrocles), served as an early governor general of the French Antilles during the regency of Anne of Austria for young King Louis XIV. His appointment came at a time when the colonies were owned by the Company of the American Islands. However, his predecessor refused to recognize his authority and prevented him from taking office on Saint Christopher Island. Patrocle was eventually arrested and returned to France. The discredited company sold the islands to their local governors and was subsequently dissolved. No evidence suggests that he died a martyr or is venerated in any specific way within the Church.
