Seeking a deeper spiritual path, Froilan chose to become a Benedictine monk. Along his journey, he formed a close bond with his fellow monk, Saint Attilanus. Together, they embarked on a mission to reorganize the monastic community at Moreruela in Old Castile, which had been adversely affected by Moorish occupation. Their efforts aimed to restore and revitalize Benedictine monasticism in western Spain. Froilan's faith and dedication were recognized by the Church, and he was elevated to the position of Bishop of Léon in the year 900. As a bishop, Froilan was known for his generosity towards the less fortunate, always willing to help the poor and needy. He led by example, adopting a simple and modest lifestyle that resonated with those around him. Beyond his philanthropic work, Saint Froilan was renowned for his reputation as a miracle worker. Countless stories circulated about the remarkable healings and miracles he performed, affirming his sanctity and divine favor. Saint Froilan continued to serve as Bishop of Léon until his passing in 905, succumbing to natural causes. The impact of his ministry, however, extended far beyond his lifetime.
