Biography
Saint Herlindis, daughter of Count Adelard of Maaseyk, was a devoted religious figure whose life centered on the founding and nurturing of monastic life in the early medieval Rhineland. Alongside her sister, Saint Relindis, she embraced the monastic vocation, prompting their father to construct a convent for them at Maaseyk on the Meuse River. This foundation, established in the late 7th century, became a significant center of piety and learning. Saint Herlindis served as its first abbess, guiding the community with steadfast dedication. Her life was marked by her close friendship with the renowned missionary saints Willibrord of Echternach and Boniface, whose spiritual journeys and evangelistic efforts deeply influenced the region. Though no specific miracles or detailed deeds beyond her abbacy are recorded in the sources,
