Biography

Saint Margaret of Fontana, also known as Margherita Fontana, was a pious and devoted woman who lived during the 15th and 16th centuries. She was born in the year 1440 in Modena, Italy. Despite facing the tragedy of losing both her parents at a young age, Margaret remained steadfast in her faith and dedicated her life to serving God and helping others. As a young woman, Margaret became a member of the Dominican Order as a tertiary. She embraced the teachings and values of the order and integrated them into her everyday life. One of her most remarkable characteristics was her deep devotion to the sick and the poor. Margaret would often spend entire nights fervently praying over those who were ill, showing them compassion and providing them with comfort. Throughout her life, numerous miraculous healings were reported in connection to Margaret's intercession. It was said that through her prayers and dedication, she was able to cure the sick and relieve their suffering. Her actions manifested the love and mercy of Christ, bringing hope and comfort to those in need. Furthermore, Saint Margaret was known for her ability to drive away demons by making the Sign of the Cross.
