Saint Maximus of Clermont, also known as Saint Maximus of Auvergne, was an early Christian martyr who lived during the 3rd century. Very little is known about his early life, but his courageous actions and steadfast faith have earned him a place in Christian history. According to historical accounts, Saint Maximus met his martyrdom at the hands of Teutonic barbarians, led by their fierce leader, Chrocas. It was during a time of great turmoil and persecution of Christians in the region.
