Biography

Saint Nennius, also known as Nennidhius, Ninnidh, or Ninnaid, was born to the Irish nobility and was drawn to a life of religious dedication from an early age. He received his spiritual education from Saint Fiechus of Leinster and Saint Finnian of Clonard, two revered saints of the time. After completing his studies, Nennius decided to live as a hermit on Inis-muighe-samb, an island located in Lake Erne. His secluded lifestyle allowed him to deepen his spiritual practices and establish a reputation for his learning and personal piety. As word of his holiness spread, many individuals seeking spiritual guidance were attracted to the island, making it a hub for spiritual seekers. Nennius was highly regarded for his knowledge and virtue, and his influence in guiding others towards a more profound understanding of their faith was widely acknowledged.
