Biography

Saint Philip of Gortyna, also known as Philip of Crete, was an early bishop of Gortyna in the island of Crete. He lived during the second century and is believed to have died around the year 180. Little is known about the early life of Saint Philip. However, it is known that he was a devoted follower of Christ and dedicated his life to spreading the faith and defending it against heretical teachings.
