Born in Pavia, Lombardy, Italy, his life was dedicated to serving God and his community in various capacities. Rodobaldo II became the Archdeacon of the cathedral in the Diocese of Pavia, exhibiting exceptional dedication and devotion to his ecclesiastical duties. His commitment and piety led to his selection as the 53rd bishop of Pavia in 1230 by Pope Gregory IX. During his tenure as bishop, Saint Rodobaldo II faced various challenges and demonstrated great courage and conviction. One significant event in his life was his bold preaching of a crusade against Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II, who was perceived as a threat to the Church and its authority.
