Biography

Saint Senorina of Basto, also known as Senorina of Vieira, was born to the nobility and was related to Saint Rudesind of Mondoñedo. She was raised by her aunt, Blessed Godina, who served as the abbess of the convent of Saint John in modern Vieira do Minho, Portugal. This convent was founded by Senorina's own father. From a young age, Senorina demonstrated a devout commitment to her faith. Inspired by her aunt's dedication to God and the religious life, she felt a strong calling to serve as a nun. Senorina entered the convent established by her father and embraced the monastic life fully. Her deep spirituality and natural leadership qualities quickly became evident, and she was eventually elected as the abbess of the convent.
