Saint Stephen of Caiazzo, also known as Stefano Minicillo or Stephen the Thaumaturge, was an esteemed Catholic saint and significant figure in Italian religious history. He was born in the year 935 in Macerata, Italy, and went on to achieve great prominence as an abbot and bishop during the 10th and 11th centuries. Stephen's early life and education remain relatively unknown, but his immense piety and devotion to his faith became evident throughout his religious career. He was appointed the Abbot of San Salvatore Maggiore territorial abbey, where he proved himself a remarkable spiritual leader and guide. His exemplary leadership skills and fervent dedication to the service of God soon caught the attention of the Church hierarchy. In 979, Stephen was ordained as the Bishop of Cajazzo, a town located in the Campania region of Italy. As Bishop, he carried out his episcopal duties with utmost sincerity and compassion towards his flock. Stephen demonstrated a remarkable ability to perform miracles and acts of divine intervention, earning the moniker "Stephen the Thaumaturge." During his tenure as Bishop, Stephen embarked on numerous religious and charitable projects for the benefit of his diocese and its surrounding areas.
