Saint Veranus

Saint Veranus of Cavaillon, also known as Véran or Verano, was born at Vaucluse and served as bishop of Cavaillon. He lived during the early 6th century and is celebrated on December 3rd. Gregory of Tours wrote about his miracles, including the expulsion of a dragon, and noted his role in charitable works and support for local monasteries both in France and Italy. In particular, he was instrumental in converting people to Christianity in Albenga. His relics were moved several times; some are still preserved in Albenga Cathedral, while others remain at Cavaillon Cathedral. Saint Veranus is venerated as a patron of local monasteries and is remembered for his charitable leadership.
