Blessed Gualter of Guimarães, also known as Walter or Gualtiero, was a spiritual student of Saint Francis of Assisi in the early 13th century. He was born in an unknown year and hailed from Guimarães, Portugal. Inspired by the teachings and example of Saint Francis, Gualter became one of the first Franciscan friars, joining the religious community at the Monte di Santa Catarina house near Urgezes, Portugal.
