Saint Albert of Butrio, also known as Alberto di Butrio, was born into a regionally important family in the year 1030. Little is known about his early life, but at some point, he felt called to embrace a life of solitude and became a hermit in the small village of Butrio, near the Borrione River Valley in the diocese of Tortona, Italy....
