Saint Basil the Elder was born in Caesarea, Cappadocia. He was the son of Saint Macrina the Elder, a renowned Christian woman known for her piety and devotion. Basil was married to Saint Emmelia, and together they had five children: Saint Basil the Great, Saint Gregory Nyssen, Saint Peter of Sebaste, Saint Macrina the Younger, and an unidentified daughter....
