Saint Maria Goretti, also known as "nan," was a beautiful and pious farm girl born on October 16, 1890, in Corinaldo, Ancona, Italy. She was one of six children born to Luigi Goretti and Assunta Carlini. In 1896, the Goretti family moved to Ferriere di Conca, but tragedy struck when Maria's father died of malaria. Forced to find a means of survival, the family moved onto the Serenelli farm....
