Saint Nivard of Rheims, also known as Nivardo or Nivo, was born into the wealthy Gallic nobility in the early 7th century near Reims, Gaul (modern France). He belonged to the ruling Merovingian family and had close ties to royalty, being the brother-in-law of King Childeric II of Austria.
