Saint Sigismund of Burgundy, also known as Sigismund the Martyr, was born as the son of King Gunebald, the Vandal king of Burgundy. He was a spiritual student of Saint Avitus of Vienne, a prominent bishop of the time. Sigismund ruled as the King of Burgundy in 516, after the death of his father. Although he was a Christian, Sigismund struggled with his hot temper and remained closely connected to his pagan roots....
