Saint Vicelin of Oldenburg, also known as the Apostle of Holstein and Apostle of Obodriten, was born around 1088 in the castle at Hemeln on the Weser, Lower Saxony, Germany. He came from a noble family but was orphaned at a young age. Despite this setback, Vicelin pursued his education and studied at Hameln, Germany, and the cathedral school of Paderborn, Germany....
