Biography
Blessed Marià Binefa Alsinella, a devoted member of the Claretian Missionaries, dedicated his life to the service of God and the Church. Professing his vows on 11 June 1933, he embraced the Claretian charism of evangelization, education, and pastoral care, living according to the spiritual legacy of Saint Anthony Mary Claret. His commitment to his religious vocation and the Gospel message flourished within the Claretian community during a period of profound social and political upheaval in Spain. Tragically, Blessed Marià met his end as a martyr during the violent turmoil of the Spanish Civil War, sacrificing his life for his faith. His steadfast fidelity to Christ and his religious mission in the face of persecution marked his witness. On 25 October 2014, Pope Francis recognized his martyrdom and declared him Blessed, acknowledging his heroic witness.
