Biography

Blessed María Antonia Vergara Melgar De Ortega, also known as María Antonia Ortega Melgar, was a married lay woman in the diocese of Córdoba, Spain, who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. She was born in 1867 in Puente Genil, Córdoba, Spain. Little is known about her early life and background, but she grew up in a devout Catholic family and developed a strong faith from an early age.
