Biography

Blessed Nicolò Of San Bernardo, a devoted monk of the Benedictine Order, dedicated his early religious life at the Abbey of Gembloux in Belgium. Driven by a profound spiritual discernment and a yearning for a life of greater austerity, he discerned a deeper calling. In response to this divine prompting, he made the significant decision to transfer his monastic vows to the Cistercian Order. He joined the community at Villers Abbey, situated near Villiers-la-Ville in Belgium, embracing the Cistercian commitment to a simpler, more rigorous observance of the Rule of St. Benedict, characterized by manual labor, silence, and profound contemplation.
