Beato Álvaro del Portillo Díez de Sollano nació el 11 de marzo de 1914 en Madrid, España. Era el segundo de ocho hijos en su familia. Los padres de Álvaro le inculcaron un profundo amor a Dios y a la fe católica, sentando las bases para su futura vocación.
