Biografía

Blessed Alberto Linares De La Pinta, also known as Brother Alberto Joaquín, was born on 27 August 1913 in Cheste, a town in Valencia, Spain. He embarked on a life dedicated to serving God and others by joining the religious congregation known as the Brothers of the Christian Schools, commonly referred to as the De La Salle Brothers.

As a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Brother Alberto devoted his life to the education of young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. He recognized the transformative power of education and believed that it could uplift individuals and contribute to the betterment of society.

Unfortunately, Brother Alberto's noble mission was disrupted by the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936. The war divided the nation, pitting various ideological factions against each other. Amidst this tumultuous period, several religious men and women faced persecution for their faith.

Tragically, Brother Alberto became a victim of this religious persecution and was ultimately martyred for his steadfast dedication to Catholicism. He was martyred on 19 March 1937 in Castillonroy, a town in Huesca province, Spain. His courageous commitment to his religious faith, even in the face of persecution, serves as an inspiring example of unwavering devotion.

Brother Alberto's life and martyrdom did not go unnoticed by the Catholic Church. On 28 June 2012, Pope Benedict XVI officially recognized his martyrdom with a decree, granting him the title of "Blessed." The beatification ceremony took place on 13 October 2013 in Tarragona, Spain, and was presided over by Pope Francis, who further affirmed the sanctity and significance of Brother Alberto's life.

As a Blessed in the Catholic Church, Brother Alberto's feast day is celebrated on 19 March, the anniversary of his martyrdom. On this day, the faithful remember his sacrifice and ask for his intercession.

Blessed Alberto Linares De La Pinta, or Brother Alberto Joaquín, remains an exemplary figure for his selfless dedication to education, his unwavering faith, and his ultimate sacrifice for the Catholic Church. His life stands as a testament to the power of education and the importance of living out one's faith, even in the most challenging circumstances.
