Biografía

Blessed Alejandro González Blanco, also known as Braulio José, was born on July 23, 1890, in Villovieco, Palencia, Spain. He lived during a tumultuous period in Spain's history, the Spanish Civil War, which had a profound impact on his life and ministry.

Alejandro González Blanco was a professed religious belonging to the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as the De La Salle Brothers. Like his fellow brothers, he dedicated his life to the education and formation of young people.

During the Spanish Civil War, the religious freedoms of the De La Salle Brothers were severely restricted, and many of them faced persecution for their faith. Despite the dangers, Alejandro González Blanco courageously continued his work, providing spiritual guidance and education to those in need.

Tragically, on July 30, 1936, Alejandro González Blanco was martyred in Casa de Campo, Madrid, Spain. His martyrdom is a testament to his unwavering faith and commitment to his religious vocation, even in the face of grave danger.

Recognizing his heroic virtues and ultimate sacrifice, Pope Benedict XVI declared Alejandro González Blanco venerable on December 19, 2011. Later, on October 13, 2013, Pope Francis beatified him, officially recognizing him as Blessed Alejandro González Blanco.

As a blessed of the Catholic Church, Alejandro González Blanco's feast day is celebrated on July 30th. On this day, the faithful honor his memory and seek his intercession for their intentions.

Blessed Alejandro González Blanco serves as an example of courage, faith, and dedication to one's religious vocation. His life and martyrdom inspire others to follow in his footsteps, embracing their faith and serving others selflessly, even in the face of adversity.
