Biografía

Blessed Angelina of Spoleto, born in the 15th century in Spoleto, Italy, was a woman of noble lineage. Her father, Antonio, provided her with a privileged upbringing, yet she was drawn to a life of spirituality and self-denial. In her early adulthood, Angelina made the significant decision to join the Poor Clares, a Franciscan order known for its dedication to poverty and prayer.

Around the year 1440, Angelina entered the Sante Lucia convent in Spoleto, where she embraced the ascetic lifestyle and devoted herself fervently to prayer. She became widely recognized for her deep spirituality, self-denial, and unwavering devotion to interceding for the souls in purgatory. It is said that Angelina's prayers were like a constant supplication for their release from their earthly suffering.

During a severe illness Angelina experienced, she was divinely granted a miraculous healing through an apparition of Saint Clare of Assisi, the founder of the Poor Clares. This profound encounter with Saint Clare further deepened Angelina's commitment to her vocation and inspired her to emulate the virtues of her patron saint.

Blessed Angelina of Spoleto spent her years in the convent cultivating a life immersed in poverty, humility, and an unwavering dedication to her spiritual path. She sought to imitate the life of Christ by embracing suffering and practicing self-mortification.
