Biografía

Blessed Arnulf of Villers, also known as Arnulf Cornibout, Arnulph, Arnulphus, or Arnoul, was born around 1180 in Brussels, Belgium. He initially lived a wasted youth, straying from a path of virtue. However, at the age of 22, he experienced a profound conversion that completely transformed his life. Motivated by a deep desire to atone for his past sins, he joined the Cistercian order as a lay brother in the monastery of Villers, Belgium.

In the monastery, Arnulf dedicated himself wholeheartedly to a life of asceticism and charity. He embraced a strict regimen of prayer, fasting, and penance, seeking to distance himself from his previous waywardness. Arnulf's commitment to his spiritual journey and his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary became well-known within the Cistercian community.

Arnulf lived a life of exemplary holiness, demonstrating a selfless and compassionate nature towards those in need. His acts of charity were numerous, as he sought to alleviate the suffering of others and bring consolation to the afflicted. Through his continued acts of love and mercy, Arnulf became a source of inspiration and a living example of God's grace at work.

On Friday, June 30, 1228, Arnulf Cornibout passed away peacefully from natural causes. Although his representation is not specified, it is believed that throughout his life, he exemplified the virtues of humility, repentance, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. These qualities, along with his unwavering dedication to a life of prayer and self-sacrifice, have made him a revered figure among the faithful.

Although Arnulf has not been officially venerated or beatified by the Catholic Church, his life and example continue to inspire those seeking to grow closer to God through penance, devotion, and acts of charity. The memory of Blessed Arnulf of Villers serves as a reminder of the transformative power of God's grace in the lives of those who sincerely repent and turn their hearts towards Him.
