Biografía

Blessed Artur Tamarit Pinyol, also known as Blessed Arthur, was born on 2 August 1913 in Solerás, Lleida, Spain. He entered the Congregation of the Claretians and made his religious profession on 15 August 1929. Recognized for his dedication and devotion, he was ordained a priest on 19 April 1936.

During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, which broke out in 1936, Blessed Artur found himself caught up in the violent persecution against Catholics. On 25 July of that same year, he met a martyr's death in Lleida, Spain, a martyrdom he embraced with unwavering faith and courage.

Blessed Artur Tamarit Pinyol is among the 109 Spanish Claretian Martyrs, a group of clergy and religious who were targeted for their commitment to Christ and the Catholic Church during the Spanish Civil War. Their feast day is celebrated on 1 February. Additionally, Blessed Artur is individually honored on 25 July, the day of his martyrdom.

The recognition of Blessed Artur's martyrdom and heroic virtues came on 21 December 2016 when Pope Francis issued a decree of martyrdom, declaring him venerable. He was subsequently beatified on 21 October 2017, with the beatification ceremony taking place at the Basilica of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. The event was presided over by Archbishop Angelo Amato, representing the Holy See.

Blessed Artur Tamarit Pinyol is revered for his unwavering faith, love for God, and willingness to suffer and die for his beliefs. His life and martyrdom serve as a powerful example of dedication and sacrifice, inspiring others to live out their faith with courage and conviction in the face of adversity.
