Blessed Bernard of Rodez, also known as Bernard of Montsalvy, was born in 1040 in Rodez, France. As a young man, he entered the religious life and became an Augustinian monk. It was during this period that he had the privilege of being a spiritual student of Blessed Gausberto of Montsalvy, who greatly influenced his formation and spiritual journey.

Bernard resided at the Montsalvy Abbey, where he lived a life of prayer, study, and contemplation.
