Biografía

Blessed Bibiana Khamphai was born on 4 November 1925 in Ban Songkhon, Mukdahan, Thailand. She was the daughter of Lon and Monica Di Benedetto, a devout Catholic family. From a young age, Bibiana displayed great piety and dedication to her faith, particularly to the sacraments.

Growing up in Ban Songkhon, Bibiana attended the Catholic mission in her hometown, Songkhon, Thailand. She actively participated in the activities and services of the mission, nurturing her spiritual growth and knowledge of the Catholic faith. As she grew older, her love for God and her commitment to following His teachings deepened.

Tragically, the anti-Christian persecutions that began when the French left Thailand posed a grave threat to Bibiana's unwavering faith. Despite the dangerous circumstances, she fearlessly stood firm in her beliefs, refusing to renounce her Catholicism. This unyielding commitment to her faith led to her martyrdom.

On 26 December 1940, Bibiana was shot and killed in the cemetery of Ban Songkhon, Mukdahan, Thailand. Her courageous and steadfast witness to the Gospel and her refusal to deny her faith in the face of persecution made her a martyr of the faith.

Blessed Bibiana Khamphai was venerated on 1 September 1988 by Pope John Paul II, who issued a decree recognizing her martyrdom. Later, on 22 October 1989, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II, elevating her to the status of a Blessed.

Bibiana Khamphai's feast day is celebrated on 26 December, the day of her martyrdom. She serves as an inspiration to all Catholics, reminding them of the courage and devotion required to live as followers of Christ, even in the most challenging circumstances.
