3 November 2018 by Pope Francis; beatification recognition celebrated at the Basilica of Saint John Lateran in Rome, Italy, presided by Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu; the beatification miracle involved the cure of Brazilian physician Pedro Ângelo of Landry’s paralysis or Guillian-Barré syndrome, in 1951; Ângelo had reached the point where he could barely swallow, and his condition was considered fatal; he was completely cured after a combination of prayer and drinking from a cup of water in which a relic of Merloni (a piece of fabric from her veil) had been placed

Biografía

Beata Clelia Merloni, nacida el 10 de marzo de 1861 en Forlì, Italia, fue hija de Gioacchino Merloni, industrial rico e influyente, y Teresa Brandinelli. A apenas unas horas de nacida, Clelia fue bautizada en la catedral diocesana de Santa Croce en Forlì. Trágicamente, su madre falleció en 1864, cuando Clelia tenía apenas tres años. Fue criada entonces por su abuela materna y por su madrastra, María Giovanna Boeri, quien se casó con Gioacchino en 1866.
