Biografía

Blessed Enric Cortadellas Segura, born on 3 November 1909 in Les Olugues, Lleida, Spain, was a member of the Claretians, a religious congregation founded by Saint Anthony Mary Claret. He professed his vows as a Claretian on 31 August 1926, dedicating himself to a life of service to God and the Church. After years of rigorous spiritual formation and studies, Enric was ordained a priest on 22 September 1934.

During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Enric Cortadellas Segura courageously remained steadfast in his commitment to his faith, even in the face of great danger. He fearlessly continued his pastoral duties, providing spiritual guidance and comfort to the faithful despite the escalating violence around him.

Tragically, on 25 August 1936, in the town of Cervera, Lleida, Spain, Father Enric suffered martyrdom for his unwavering commitment to his beliefs. He was shot, becoming one of the countless victims of religious persecution during that tumultuous time. However, even in the face of senseless violence, his unwavering faith and dedication to Christ's teachings remained unshakeable.

In recognition of his witness to the Catholic faith and his ultimate sacrifice, Pope Francis declared Enric Cortadellas Segura venerable on 21 December 2016, issuing a decree of martyrdom. On 21 October 2017, in a beatification ceremony held at the grand Basilica of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, attended by countless faithful, Archbishop Angelo Amato presided over the beatification of Blessed Enric. This event marked a significant moment of recognition for his holy life, his martyrdom, and the enduring impact of his example to all believers.

Blessed Enric Cortadellas Segura is honored and celebrated annually on two feast days: 25 August, the day he attained martyrdom, and 1 February, alongside the 108 other Spanish Claretian Martyrs who also sacrificed their lives for the sake of their faith.

Although specific details of any particular representation of Blessed Enric Cortadellas Segura have not been mentioned, his beatification and subsequent veneration indicate that he is acknowledged and revered by the faithful as a powerful intercessor and an inspiration for all those who face challenges and persecution in the pursuit of their faith.

Blessed Enric Cortadellas Segura's life stands as a powerful testament to the strength of faith, the courage to live out one's beliefs, and the unwavering dedication to the teachings of Christ. His memory continues to inspire and his intercession is sought by those who recognize the value of his witness and strive to follow in his footsteps.
