Biografía

Blessed Fernando Olmedo Reguera, also known as Fernando of Santiago, was a Franciscan Capuchin priest who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He was born on January 10, 1873, in Santiago de Compostela, La Coruña, Spain.

Fernando dedicated his life to the service of God and the Catholic Church. He entered the Capuchin Order and was ordained as a priest. His deep faith and commitment to his vocation led him to live a life of poverty, simplicity, and selflessness.

During the Spanish Civil War, a time of great turmoil and religious persecution in Spain, Father Fernando was targeted because of his religious beliefs. On August 2, 1936, he was martyred at the Montaña barracks in Madrid. Despite the threats and dangers he faced, he remained steadfast in his faith and refused to renounce his religious principles.

Blessed Fernando Olmedo Reguera's life and martyrdom exemplify the courage and steadfastness of those who remained faithful to their religious convictions in times of intense persecution. Today, Blessed Fernando Olmedo Reguera is remembered as a heroic and faithful servant of God, a martyr who gave his life for the sake of his beliefs. His feast day is celebrated on August 2nd each year, a day to honor his sacrifice and to seek his intercession. The life of Blessed Fernando Olmedo Reguera continues to inspire believers to persevere in their faith, even in the face of adversity and persecution.
