Blessed Floribert Bwana Chui Bin Kositi

Floribert Bwana Chui bin Kositi was born at Goma on 13 June 1981, a city in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the northern shore of Lake Kivu at the Rwandan border. He was the eldest child of a comfortable family and never lacked either material support or education; although his parents separated when he was four, he was never short of affection or help, and studied in private institutions. Toward the end of primary school, at eleven, he received Baptism, the Eucharist and Confirmation together at the parish of the Holy Spirit, with Eugène Ndyanabo as his godfather. He served at the altar and later read at Mass in that parish, and sang in the choir.

After primary school he went to Bukavu to begin his secondary studies at the Institut Alfajiri, the former Jesuit college, and returned to Goma two years later to finish in the commercial and administrative section of his old school. He took his state diploma in 2000 and enrolled in the faculty of law of the University of Goma, remaining closely involved in his parish and volunteering for its activities.
