Beato Francisco Sánchez Márquez

Blessed Francisco Sánchez Márquez, also known as Francisco Tomás Márquez Sánchez or Francisco Tomás de San Juan Bautista Márquez y Sánchez, was born on June 24, 1866, in Alpandeire, a small village in Málaga, Spain. He was the eldest of four children in a rural peasant family.

He served as a beggar for his monastery, traversing the streets of Granada, asking for donations to support his community. Following further investigation and recognition of a miracle attributed to his intercession, he was beatified on September 12, 2010, by Pope Benedict XVI. The beatification ceremony took place at the Armilla Air Base in Granada, Spain, presided over by Archbishop Angelo Amato.
