Beato Germain de Talloires, también conocido como Germain de Montfort o Germán, nació en Montfort, Francia, y era hermano del Santo Rupho. Dedico su vida a la fe y a la erudición, estudiando teología en la Universidad de París durante varios años. Durante ese tiempo, tuvo el privilegio de trabajar y servir como tutor al Santo Bernardo de Menthon, reconocido defensor cristiano de los viajeros alpinos.
