Blessed Jaime Calatrava Romero, also known as Jaime Romero Calatrava, was a devout layman of the diocese of Almería, Spain. Born on 18 December 1913 in Granada, Spain, he grew up in a loving and religious family. Jamie was known for his deep faith, piety, and compassion towards the less fortunate.

During the tumultuous era of the Spanish Civil War, Jaime's commitment to his Catholic faith became more pronounced. He actively participated in various apostolic and social works, striving to bring peace, hope, and spiritual guidance to those affected by the conflict.

Tragically, on 26 September 1936, in Pozo de Cantavieja, Tahal, Almeria, Jaime Calatrava Romero was martyred for his unwavering faith and commitment to the Gospel. He faced persecution and violence due to his refusal to renounce his Catholic beliefs. Jaime's martyrdom stood as a testament to his unwavering devotion to Christ and the Church, even in the face of grave danger.

Recognizing his heroic witness, Pope Francis officially declared Jaime Calatrava Romero as venerable on 14 June 2016, issuing a decree of martyrdom. His beatification followed on 25 March 2017, in a ceremony held at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Aguadulce, Almería, Spain. The beatification Mass was presided over by Cardinal Angelo Amato, emphasizing the significance of Jaime's sacrifice and his status as a role model for all Catholics.
