Biografía

Blessed James of Tunis, a Mercedarian friar dedicated to the ransom of Christian captives, dedicated his life to the service of the oppressed. In 1314, he journeyed to Tunis, Tunisia, in North Africa, joining the efforts of Blessed Adolphus of Tunis and Blessed Arnaldo de Rossinol to liberate fellow Christians held in bondage. While returning to Europe, their vessel was seized by pirates, and James was imprisoned. During his captivity, he remained steadfast in his faith, ministering to fellow prisoners and courageously
