Biografía

Blessed Jeanne Veron was a devout Catholic woman who became a member of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Evron. Born on August 6, 1766, in Quelaines, Mayenne, France, she dedicated her life to serving God and helping those in need.

During the tumultuous period of the French Revolution, Blessed Jeanne Veron boldly lived out her faith, even in the face of great danger. As the revolutionaries sought to suppress religious institutions and persecute those who remained steadfast in their faith, Jeanne remained committed to her calling as a Sister of Charity.

Tragically, Blessed Jeanne Veron met her martyrdom on March 20, 1794, in Laval, Mayenne, France. It was during this time that many clergy, religious, and faithful Catholics were targeted and killed for their refusal to renounce their faith. Jeanne Veron stood firm in her allegiance to Christ and paid the ultimate price for her devotion.

On May 3, 1955, Pope Pius XII officially recognized the martyrdom of Blessed Jeanne Veron, acknowledging her heroic witness to the Catholic faith. Less than two months later, on June 19, 1955, she was beatified by Pope Pius XII in Rome, Italy.

Though specific details regarding her life and deeds may be scarce, her courageous testimony and ultimate sacrifice serve as a profound reminder of the power of faith and the unwavering commitment of the Catholic saints.

Blessed Jeanne Veron's feast days are celebrated on March 20 as an individual commemoration and on January 21 as one of the Blessed Martyrs of Laval. These occasions allow the faithful to honor her memory and draw inspiration from her example of fidelity and devotion to God.

As a martyr of the French Revolution, Blessed Jeanne Veron joins the numerous saints and blessed who gave their lives for their faith during this tumultuous period. Her story stands as a testament to the enduring strength and unwavering dedication of those who choose to follow Christ, even in the face of persecution and death.
