Biografía

Blessed Joaquín Piña Piazuelo, also known as Brother Acisclo, was born on 26th July 1878 in Caspe, Zaragoza, Spain. He dedicated his life to serving God as a member of the Hospitallers of Saint John of God, a Catholic religious institute known for its commitment to caring for the sick and the marginalized.

At the age of 37, Joaquín joined the Hospitallers, demonstrating his deep devotion to his faith and his desire to alleviate the suffering of others. He wholeheartedly embraced the mission of the order, which sought to imitate the compassionate example of Saint John of God.

Tragically, Joaquín's life was cut short during the Spanish Civil War, a period marked by intense religious persecution in Spain. He was imprisoned and ultimately martyred for his unwavering commitment to his Catholic beliefs. Despite the challenges and dangers he faced, Joaquín remained steadfast in his faith until the end.

Blessed Joaquín Piña Piazuelo's feast day is celebrated on 10th November each year, commemorating the day of his martyrdom. His brave and selfless actions have inspired many, and his virtuous life serves as a testament to the enduring power of faith in the face of adversity.

In recognition of his martyrdom, Pope John Paul II declared Joaquín venerable on 14th May 1991. Later, on 25th October 1992, Blessed Joaquín Piña Piazuelo was beatified by Pope John Paul II, an acknowledgment of his sacrifice and his sanctity.

Although specific details regarding Joaquín's life and his contributions to the Hospitallers may be limited, the enduring memory of his martyrdom and his devout commitment to his faith continue to inspire and remind us of the importance of selflessness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to God.
