Biografía

Blessed Josep Casas Lluch, also known as Brother Ildefons Lluís, was a devout Catholic and a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He was born on June 20, 1886, in Sampedor, Barcelona, Spain. From an early age, Josep exhibited a deep love for God and a strong desire to serve others. This calling led him to join the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a religious order dedicated to the education of young people.

As a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Brother Ildefons Lluís dedicated his life to teaching and guiding students in their journey of faith and education. He was known for his kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to his students' well-being. Brother Ildefons Lluís saw his teaching vocation as a means to bring the love of Christ to the young souls entrusted to his care.

Tragically, during the Spanish Civil War, a period of intense conflict and religious persecution, Brother Ildefons Lluís was martyred on October 22, 1936, in Barcelona, Spain. Alongside many other Catholic clergy and religious, he gave up his life rather than renounce his faith. His courageous martyrdom serves as a testament to his unwavering devotion to his beliefs and his commitment to the Gospel values.

Blessed Josep Casas Lluch's life and witness have left a lasting impact on the faithful. Recognizing his holiness and martyrdom, Pope John Paul II issued a decree of martyrdom on June 22, 2004, and the beatification ceremony took place on October 28, 2007, celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI.
