Biografía

Blessed Joseph Moreau, also known as Blessed Joseph Moreau dit Chalet, was a Catholic priest of the diocese of Angers, France. He was born on October 21, 1763, in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine, Maine-et-Loire, France.

Joseph Moreau entered the priesthood and served as a devoted priest in Angers. However, during the French Revolution, when the anti-Catholic sentiment was soaring, many priests were targeted for their faith. Joseph Moreau became a victim of the persecutions and was eventually martyred.

On Good Friday, April 18, 1794, Joseph Moreau was guillotined in Angers, Maine-et-Loire, France. His martyrdom marked the immense sacrifice he made for his beliefs and unwavering dedication to the Church.

In recognition of his martyrdom and steadfast faith, Joseph Moreau was venerated on June 9, 1983, by Pope John Paul II, who issued a decree of martyrdom. Subsequently, on February 19, 1984, Pope John Paul II beatified Blessed Joseph Moreau in a ceremony held in Rome, Italy.

Blessed Joseph Moreau's feast days are celebrated on April 18 and January 2 as one of the Martyrs of Anjou. His life serves as a testament to the persecution faced by priests during the French Revolution and the strength of their faith in the face of adversity. He is remembered as a martyr and a beacon of courage for all Catholics.
