Biografía

Blessed Juan Francisco Joya Corralero, also known as Brother Juan of the Virgin of Castellar, was a devout Catholic and a member of the Trinitarian religious order. He was born on 16 May 1898 in Villarubia de Santiago, Toledo, Spain.

From an early age, Juan Francisco Joya Corralero showed great piety and a strong inclination towards a religious life. He joined the Trinitarians, a religious order founded to free Christian captives from the hands of Muslim captors, and dedicated his life to serving God and humanity.

During the tumultuous time of the Spanish Civil War, Juan Francisco Joya Corralero became a victim of religious persecution. He steadfastly upheld his faith in the face of opposition and remained loyal to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

On 24 September 1936, Juan Francisco Joya Corralero was martyred for his faith in Cuenca, Spain. He was amongst the many Catholics who sacrificed their lives during this dark period in Spanish history. His unwavering commitment to his religious beliefs and his courage in the face of adversity make him a shining example of faith and devotion.

Recognizing his martyrdom, Pope Benedict XVI issued a decree of martyrdom on 26 June 2006, venerated Juan Francisco Joya Corralero as a Blessed. On 28 October 2007, Pope Benedict XVI further honored him by beatifying him, a step towards possible canonization.

Blessed Juan Francisco Joya Corralero's feast day is celebrated on 24 September. His life story serves as an inspiration for all, reminding us of the strength of faith and the willingness to sacrifice for one's beliefs. Though his representation is not specified, it is believed that he is represented in the hearts of those who honor him as a martyr and intercessor.
