Beato Juan Navas Rodríguezcarretero

Blessed Juan Navas Rodríguezcarretero, also known as Juan Navas Rodríguezcarretero, was a Catholic priest of the diocese of Córdoba, Spain, who faithfully served the community of Palma del Río. Born on 23 February 1892 in Castro del Río, Córdoba, Spain, he dedicated his life to the service of God and his people.

As a priest, Blessed Juan Navas Rodríguezcarretero tirelessly worked to bring the message of Christ's love and compassion to the people of Palma del Río. He dedicated himself to the spiritual needs of his parishioners, providing guidance, support, and teaching them about the Catholic faith. On 16 August 1936, he was martyred in Palma del Río, Córdoba, Spain, for his unwavering faith and refusal to renounce his beliefs. Faced with persecution and violence, he chose to remain steadfast in his commitment to Christ until the very end.

In recognition of his sacrifice and martyrdom, Pope Francis proclaimed the veneration of Blessed Juan Navas Rodríguezcarretero on 23 November 2020 through a decree of martyrdom. His beatification, a significant step towards becoming a saint, took place on 16 October 2021 in a ceremony held at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain. The beatification recognition was presided over by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro.
