Biografía

Blessed Klara Schramm, also known as Sister Maria Adela, was a devout Catholic nun and a member of the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth. She was born on 3 June 1885 in Laczna, Klodzko, Poland. Klara made her first profession on 16 August 1915 and later made her perpetual profession on 29 June 1924.

Throughout her life, Blessed Klara served in various locations, including Ramultowice, Szklarska Poreba, Walbrzych-Sobiecin, and Godzieszów. It was in Godzieszów where she held the position of superior in her religious community.

Tragically, during the final stages of World War II, the village of Godzieszów was overrun by Soviet soldiers. In an attempt to protect herself, Sister Klara sought refuge on the farm of Pawel and Maria Baum, hoping to evade the soldiers' aggression. However, her presence was discovered, and as she bravely defended herself from a would-be rapist, Sister Klara, along with the Baums and several others hiding on the farm, was mercilessly murdered. Their sacrifice in the face of such violent persecution demonstrated their unwavering faith and commitment to their beliefs, earning Sister Klara the title of martyr.

On 25 February 1945, Blessed Klara Schramm was shot in Godzieszów and was subsequently buried in a bomb crater on the farm. Her final resting place serves as a poignant reminder of the ultimate sacrifice she made for her faith.

Recognizing her heroic virtues and martyrdom, Pope Francis declared the veneration of Blessed Klara Schramm on 19 June 2021. Then, on 11 June 2022, Pope Francis beatified her, officially bestowing the title of Blessed upon her.

Blessed Klara Schramm's life and death serve as an inspiration to all who strive to follow their faith devoutly. Her dedication to God and her ultimate sacrifice demonstrate the true meaning of selflessness and love. We honor and remember her on her feast day, 25 February.
