Biografía
Blessed Ludovicus Maki Soetsu, a married layman of the Archdiocese of Nagasaki, Japan, lived a life of profound faith within the Secular Franciscan Order. As a devoted member of this lay religious family, he embodied the Franciscan spirit of humility and service in his daily life. His vocation extended deeply into his family, where he served as the adoptive father to the Blessed John Maki, nurturing his spiritual growth. Blessed Ludovicus’s unwavering commitment to his faith became his defining witness. He provided refuge for the priest Blessed Thomas Tsughi, allowing him to celebrate Mass in his home during a period of intense persecution against Catholics in Japan. This act of courageous hospitality, a profound expression of his love for the Eucharist and his community, led to his arrest. Facing the ultimate sacrifice, he was executed for his fidelity to Christ
